Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Houses

As a means of recognising positive behavior, building cohesiveness and providing a competitive element between our students, we have a House system in place.

Our Houses

The house names and logos were created via a competition for students. Maizie Rielly won the competition. Maizie felt that the Latin names for the 4 elements of the Earth were a perfect fit as it represents how important each of us are in making our school community. The wonderful house logos were designed by Ellie King.

Students win points for their house via our behaviour reward points on SIMS. When their teachers give them points it automatically adds them to their house total. They can also win points via house competitions. These include - inter house sports events, fortnightly house quiz and department competitions within lessons.

Years 7, 8 and 9 can compete against each other in our Athletics cup during the summer term at the sports centre in all the athletics disciplines; jumping, throwing and running. The top 3 participants of each event are rewarded house points.

We also host a whole school sports day. This is where the whole school compete in competitions throughout the day. Students compete in their houses teams to earn points in events such as netball, basketball, dodgeball, board games, ready steady cook, STEM problem solving, escape room and many more.

The students will keep earning points until; the end of term where we will present the house cup to the overall winning house in the end of year assembly.
