Community Hub
We offer opportunities for extended learning beyond the core Academy day. Our Youth and Community Team offer a range of holistic provision to build community, support wellbeing and help people of all ages to reach their God given potential. Oasis’ vision for community is explained in this video.
Youth Work
A range of activities delivered by youth staff in partnership with the academy:
- Holiday activities, including trips for 11 -14 year olds to local activities such as bowling, games at country parks and Southsea pier. For primary aged children there are activities based at Oasis Academy Mayfield.
- Club and detached youth work sessions through out the week at Veracity Rec, Mayfield Kicks session and at the Harefield Hub.
- Young Carers club in partnership with Southampton City Council
- Mentoring support focussed on wellbeing and confidence building. As well as a specific focus on Grief and Loss for young people who have experienced a bereavement.
- Youth leadership and voice, supporting young people to have agency and influence decision making about issues that affect their lives.
Family and Community Support
Working closely with the academy team our community team can offer support to families facing challenges. This includes:
- Help accessing support to meet basic needs, such as emergency food provision, bills and household goods.
- Food Pantry, a selection of fresh and store cupboard food, household items and toiletries open to all households who would benefit from reduced food bills. Our friendly team offer a cup of coffee, a listening ear and friendship. As well as help to access support with utility bills, white goods etc. A Social Prescriber joins us each week and at our Harefield Pantry there is a community lunch each week too.
- Oasis Encounter, a course designed to offer a safe place to discuss the realities of parenting. With the aim to strengthen and protect relationships between parents and their children and focussing on improving the whole family’s mental health.
- Adult drop in session for Tea and Toast and a chat.
- Tiny Turtles toddler group.

Here we offer a variety of inclusive, accessible, and wellbeing boosting activities that include a youth programmes, community programmes, and therapeutic education programmes. Academy students have access to these alongside the wider community offering a chance to learn new skills alongside building their own health and wellbeing. There are activities throughout the year, including in all school holidays. To find out more head to the farm’s website or come along and visit on a weekend afternoon.
We work very closely with the academy, but Oasis is here for our whole community so if you are interested in finding out more about any of our provision or have ideas of how you can get involved and help build a flourishing community in this area we would love to hear from you.
