3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
4. Linking curriculum learning to careers

6. Experiences of workplaces

8. Personal guidance

Oasis Academy Sholing has a Personalised Learning & Enterprise Manager and a dedicated Careers Adviser who are available for the students throughout the school day and provide an extensive programme of Careers Education.

The careers team deliver a variety of events to support students’ at all transitional points of their education. They deliver Careers Days; where local employers, education establishments and training providers are invited in to school to work closely with students to raise awareness of the working world and the opportunities available to them, as well as raising aspirations and emphasising the importance of planning for their future.

They work closely with key staff to deliver aspects of the careers programme in the curriculum throughout Years 7 to 11.

Impartial advice is important to us at Oasis Academy Sholing. We aim to make sure that every student has the opportunity to access information, advice and guidance that is suited to their needs and requirements. One-to-one Careers Guidance interviews are available to all students. This is a great opportunity to explore their careers ideas and post 16 options. Students have assemblies giving them further education information, visits to workplaces and university experiences through programmes such as Learn with US (The University of Southampton). Students are encouraged to attend a full range of post 16 open evening events and Oasis Academy Sholing hosts its own Careers Fair at the start of the autumn term where local colleges, apprenticeship providers, universities and many local employers are represented.

Please see below our current careers programme. This is a constantly changing document. As each event happens we review feedback from Students, Staff, Parents and external visitors to make suitable improvements to ensure it is always fulfilling the Gatsby benchmarks listed above, as well as having the desired impact for the students.
