Oasis Academy Sholing launches new Academy Parliament.
On Tuesday 23rd November, Oasis Academy Sholing welcomed students to the first meeting of our Academy Parliament; with over 50 of our students turning up to represent their peers and provide student voice on a number of school, local and national topics.
We had 3 things on the agenda:
Academy - How can we improve our House identify?
Local - How can we make Southampton safer for young people?
Guest Speaker: Chris Brown, Community Cohesion Manager, Southampton Violence Reduction Unit.
National - Supporting Southampton’s bid to become a Unicef recognised Child friendly city.
Guest speaker: Sallie White, Child Friendly Project officer, Southampton City Council.
The students were excellent, and put forward some passionate and articulate representation, allowing their opinions to be heard on an academy, local and national level.
