Oasis Academy Sholing raise funds for charity this Christmas

Over £380 raised by the students and staff at Oasis Sholing!

Oasis Academy Sholing’s student leadership team have been working to raise funds for local charities including Abby’s Heroes.

Abby’s Heroes aim to help and support children and their families, including bereaved families, who come under the care of the Piam Brown and the Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) wards at Southampton General Hospital. They offer financial and practical help as well as the opportunity to make lasting memories for the children and their families.

Sally Randall from Abby’s Heroes, commented on the donation saying; “We are so very proud of our local community and the young adults who attend the Oasis Academy Sholing for raising such a wonderful amount of money for Abby’s Heroes.”

“We will use the money to help decorate the Piam Brown Ward at Southampton General Hospital, with some new Christmas Decorations and activities for the children currently on treatment.”

To raise these important funds for Abby’s Heroes, staff and students held staff vs student dodgeball games, a staff car wash and more to raise funds.

The current leadership team are working on ways that they can still continue to raise funds while adhering to the ongoing restrictions of COVID-19.

Chris Dale, Associate Assistant Principal at Oasis Academy Sholing said; “In these difficult times it is important to try and continue to do the things that make Oasis Academy Sholing such a great place to be a part of, whether as a student, member of staff, or parent. The student leadership team are determined to help support the community in as many ways as they can and I’m so proud of them.”
