Sholing students have Big Ideas!

Oasis Academy Sholing students enjoy success at the Solutions for the Planet Big Ideas Regional Final.

Seven, Year 8 students, in two teams (G.R.O.W.T.H. and Calm) have been working on the Big Ideas programme coming up with either a STEM and/or sustainability project to help improve the community around them.

The award-winning programme is an annual enrichment programme that focuses on sustainability and combines STEM learning and STEM activities with enterprise and employability skills.

The Big Ideas Regional South England Regional Final was held at University of Portsmouth on Monday 9th May. The students presented their ideas in front of a panel of judges and the other teams during the day. The day also included a tour of the University of Portsmouth.

Both teams did an excellent job, really selling their ideas and showing how much hard work and commitment they have shown.

Congratulations to team G.R.O.W.T.H. of Darcey, Grace and Phocea who won the Regional Final with their mental health orientated project. The team will now progress to the National Finals in London in June.

Team Calm are waiting to see if they receive one of the wild cards places.

Well done to all.
